What is a Macau sauna?
A Macau sauna (known locally as a 桑拿 or 水療会所, a "spa club") brings sauna, marble bath pools, a restaurant, rest lounges and massage together under one roof — essentially a luxury spa you can sleep in. If you arrive picturing a gym sauna or an ordinary bathhouse, the scale and opulence will genuinely surprise you. It isn't a place to bathe quickly and leave: the local way is to spend several hours — or a whole night — enjoying the baths, a meal, a massage and a proper rest.
Empire Sauna, opened in May 2026, is the newest luxury sauna and spa on the Macau Peninsula. Built at a cost of HK$80 million, it's known for its hotel-grade themed suites, the signature water-bed room and full butler service — a dedicated attendant guides you from check-in to checkout, even on your very first visit. You can browse the interiors on the rooms & suites page.
Seven simple steps, even on your first time
From booking to checkout, the flow is refreshingly simple. A butler guides you at every key moment, so there's no language worry along the way.
-
Book ahead (English OK)
One message on WhatsApp, Telegram or LINE is all it takes. Tell us your arrival time, group size and room preference, and our English-speaking team arranges the rest. Book through this site for a free private shuttle plus 2 free add-on mini services.
-
Arrive by free shuttle
A private car collects you from your hotel, the ferry terminal or the airport. Even if you don't know Macau at all — or you're heading over after a late night at the casino — it's door-to-door, so there's no way to get lost.
-
Check in (passport required)
Show your passport at reception and collect your locker key. Everything goes on one bill settled when you leave, so you can move around the venue completely hands-free.
-
Lockers & bathing
After changing, head straight for the marble bath pools and sauna. Towels and amenities are all provided, so you need almost nothing of your own. This is where the travel fatigue melts away.
-
Rest & dine in the lounge
Fresh from the bath, relax in your gown in the lounge or the restaurant. Don't rush — taking it slow is the Macau sauna way.
-
Choose your therapist
With the butler's guidance, choose from Taiwanese and Japanese star-level therapists. They're on duty daily from 14:00 to 06:00 — book ahead and we can share the day's therapist lineup in advance.
-
Massage & relax in your room
Move to the signature water-bed room or a hotel-grade themed suite and enjoy your massage in complete privacy. Afterwards, rest a while longer in the lounge — or simply stay the night.
What it costs, and how to pay
Empire Sauna's public prices run MOP 1,199 – 6,088, and already include the 5% service charge and 5% tourism tax. On top of your package there are 8 add-on mini services (about 20 minutes each), from body scrubs to foot reflexology. Book through this site and pick 2 free add-on mini services (8 options, ~20 min each) — site bookings only. For full package details, see the prices & menu page.
Payment is by Cash, Card, WeChat Pay, Alipay. Cash is accepted in both Macau patacas (MOP) and Hong Kong dollars (HKD), and cards, WeChat Pay and Alipay all work — so there's no need to exchange a large amount of currency for your trip. Everything is settled in a single bill when you check out.
Six tips for first-timers
- Always carry your passport. It's required at reception, and visitors in Macau are expected to carry ID.
- Towels, amenities and gowns are all provided. Come practically empty-handed and keep valuables in your locker.
- Rooms and therapists fill up quickly on weekends and holidays, so booking ahead is strongly recommended.
- Prices, package contents and durations can all be confirmed in English when you book. Clear up any questions before you set off.
- For the full experience including massage, time your visit within therapist hours (14:00 – 06:00 daily).
- Keep things quiet inside the venue, and avoid photos that might capture other guests.
How to pair a sauna with your Macau trip
On a late-night arrival
Landing in Macau late at night? Skip the wait for hotel check-in and come straight to the sauna. We're open 24 hours — bathe away the journey, then take a proper nap.
After a night at the casino
After playing through the night, sweat it out in the marble baths and follow up with a massage. It's the seasoned Macau traveller's way to keep the next day intact.
Before an early flight
Spend the hours before your flight resting properly in a private room, take a shower, then head to the airport. Leave the transfer to us as well.
For everything our 24-hour opening makes possible — naps, full nights, pre-flight rests — see the overnight guide.
