The Monday After the Macau Grand Prix Is a Holiday in Japan: Spend the Last Night in Empire Sauna's Waterbed Room

For anyone who flies in from Japan for the Grand Prix weekend, the last day tends to end at the airport: watch the finals on Sunday, fly home the same evening, and be back at work on Monday. This year, though, that Monday is a public holiday in Japan.

The 73rd Macau Grand Prix runs from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 November 2026, with finals including the FR World Cup and the GT World Cup on the last day. Monday 23 November is Labour Thanksgiving Day in Japan. The butler then calls in the multinational therapists on duty, one after another, so you can meet them in person, make your choice and tell him who it is.

The waterbed room the venue is known for

The room guests ask for most at Empire Sauna is its signature waterbed room. From the first wash through the massage to the final shower, your therapist guides you through the whole hour there, so there is no order to remember.

From the water to the dry bed, including when to move across, the running of the hour is hers. If there is something you would like, mentioning it as it occurs to you is all it takes. With a holiday the next morning, there is no clock to watch. Many guests who have been in it once ask for it again on their next trip: this is Empire Sauna’s signature hour.

Rooms are chosen after you arrive, so if you would like the waterbed room, add a note when you book. Book through this site and a private car collects you from where you are staying, with the ride back arranged in advance. After the hour, in the recliner lounge, a different masseuse gives you two free add-on services, which you pick once you are settled in the chair.
