The Holiday That Isn't in Your Calendar — Macau, 1 to 7 October 2026
If your October hotel quote suddenly doubled and the good ferry sailings look sold out, you have booked into mainland China's National Day week (1–7 October 2026). Here is what that week does to Macau, which nights press hardest, what our front desk has seen from inside the house during past ones, and the hours, menu and perks that stand today.
The first sign is usually the hotel quote. A room that was reasonable in late September comes back at nearly double for the first week of October, the fast ferry sailings you wanted are gone, and the restaurant you had saved is quoting an hour’s wait. Nothing has gone wrong with your planning. You have simply booked into a public holiday that does not appear on your own calendar.
Mainland China’s National Day week runs from 1 to 7 October in 2026, and Macau spends those days at capacity. If your trip touches that window, send us three things now from the booking page — your dates, your hotel, and what kind of evening you want. Bookings made through this site let us line up the car and talk through rooms before you land, which matters far more in a full week than in a quiet one.
Why the city fills
1 October is National Day in mainland China, and the holiday that follows it is one of the two great travel weeks of the Chinese year. Guangdong province is a short land crossing away, so Macau receives its heaviest visitor volume of the autumn. Macau itself observes 1 and 2 October as public holidays, which means the city is both busier and running on a holiday rhythm at the same time.
Casinos, hotels and this house all operate normally. What changes is everything in between them: pavements, taxi ranks, border queues and the wait for a table.
Building the evening so the crowd doesn’t reach you
Hand us the transport. Every booking through this site includes a free private car anywhere in Macau — a car of your own, never a shared vehicle — so you skip the taxi rank entirely. Give us a covered hotel driveway as the pickup point and the queue outside stops being your problem. Arrivals from the airport or from the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge port work the same way; tell us the terminal and the time.
Eat here. The house keeps a proper dining room, and the food is complimentary — steak, soups, seafood, noodle dishes and more, with spirits and wine charged separately. During National Day week that is the difference between dinner and a queue on the pavement.
Say what you want from the room early. The signature waterbed rooms and the hotel-grade themed suites draw the most requests in a busy week; you can see them on the rooms page and in the gallery. If you would rather sleep here afterwards than cross town at 4am, read the overnight page before you message us.
What the front desk remembers
This house opened on 15 May 2026, but most of the people on our desk have worked the Macau peninsula for years, and their notes on past National Day weeks agree on a few things.
- 1 and 2 October — the two heaviest evenings. Traffic towards the Border Gate slows from late afternoon, and a twenty-minute run has taken close to double that. Inside, the first rush lands around 8pm.
- 3 and 4 October — a Saturday and a Sunday sitting inside the holiday this year, which is the hardest combination the calendar produces.
- 5 to 7 October — the pressure drains away day by day. Roads loosen first, then the house.
- After midnight, any night of that week — quieter than an ordinary Saturday. A 24-hour house is at its most useful when the city outside is not.
That is memory, not a forecast. What the desk can tell you is what it is seeing on the day itself, which is why a message before you set out is worth more than any table of predictions.
Tonight’s board
The house is open 24 hours. Therapists are on shift from 14:00 to 06:00 — two different things, so if you are planning a very late arrival, ask us before you leave the hotel.
On the August 2026 menu, Sauna Entry is MOP 1,288, Shanghai style MOP 2,088–2,588, the popular Eastern style MOP 3,088–3,488, European & American MOP 4,088–5,088, Chinese MOP 4,488–5,088, and the Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong styles MOP 5,488–6,088. Listed prices are plus 5% tourism tax and 5% service charge; the full breakdown sits on the price page. Prices follow the venue’s current menu and may vary by package, duration and time of day. Ask our team for the latest quote when you book.
Our therapists are a multinational team. Tell us the style you are after and we will suggest from whoever is available in your window.
Cash, cards, WeChat Pay and Alipay are all accepted, so a crowded money changer never becomes part of your evening.
What booking through this site adds
- Two add-on mini services, free — chosen from body scrub, leg massage, head massage, foot reflexology, hand massage, ear cleaning, and hand or foot nail care
- A free private car across all of Macau, in both directions
- No entrance fee, which is otherwise collected at the door
FAQ
My dates are 5 to 7 October. Is that still a bad week?
It is the good half of it. The back end of the holiday empties out noticeably, and by the 8th the city is ordinary again.
Does anything cost more during National Day week?
No. As of August 2026 there is no holiday surcharge planned on the menu, and as always, current menu confirmed when you book.
I am coming over the bridge from Hong Kong that week. How much time should I leave?
Border halls are at their fullest between late morning and early evening. Cross earlier or later than that, tell us your expected arrival time, and the car will be waiting on this side.
Can I sort all this out in English?
Yes — WhatsApp, Telegram and LINE are all answered in English. More ground is covered on the FAQ page, and the address and directions are on the location page.
A week that ambushes you is exhausting; the same week, planned around, is barely an inconvenience. Send your dates, your hotel and your preference to the booking page and Empire Sauna will handle the roads, the room and the rest of the evening.
